Default Project: RANT - an online series

Project: Rant takes real anonymous online posts and recreates them in a variety of styles with actors.

The series was launched about a month and a half ago - with episodes being released twice a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays)

Where to watch Project Rant:
This is an evolving list - I'll update it as we extend our distribution

Facebook
Myspace
Youtube
Blip.tv
FunnyorDie (select episodes)

And you can keep up with the details via Twitter

And of course there is always the official show site: www.projectrant.com
So check it out - and if you like it, feel free to subscribe to our feed, mailing list, become a fan on Facebook, or join one of the other social network pages listed below so you'll know when new episodes come out. Links will be updated as things move forward.

If you have any questions about the creation of the series itself, production, post, or about the distribution and marketing strategies - just ask away in this thread and we'll do the best to answer all of them.

I'll be updating this thread as the series continues.
So if there is anything anyone would like to know - just ask away.
Thanks for the support.
And of course - feedback is always welcome.

HAHAHAHA -
I wrote a long response....and right before posting I realized I'd misread your question. I thought you had asked "what do you do it for?"

To answer you're ACTUAL question.... I work with a partner on the show and we basically split the responsibilities across the board - though he generally takes care of most of the producing end of things (scheduling, etc) and I take care of most of the tech side of things (lighting, shooting, etc). We both work together on finding the material (we meet once a week to go over them). When it comes to working with the actors, I generally am the one giving them direction - but we're both on the same page 99% of the time. We split the post workflow - with him doing the rough cuts of each episode, and me finishing them out and doing any needed keying/greenscreen work. This is basically the way we've worked together for years... might be kind of odd to some people, but it works for us.

And now - since I took the time to write it - I'll answer the question I thought you asked.... "what do you do it for?"

Funny - no one has asked me that yet....

Doing it to keep myself from going crazy, right now.
We needed a creative outlet - and work has been slow lately.

My producing partner and I have spent a lot of time on online series in the last few years and we were kind of missing the fun of working on one. There is definitely an instant gratification in working on short form stuff like this that I just don't get from longer form work (granted, there isn't the huge sense of accomplishement either...though it is nice to look back and see that in just a month and half we alrady have 12 episodes up).

This series has been great for us because, unlike our past series, it has allowed us to meet a ton of actors and other creative folks in town. The actors we've worked with love it because it gives them a chance to play around and have a nice short piece to show off that showcases them... and for us its great because it's served as both a networking tool, and a creative outlet.... which like I mentioned, keeps me from going insane.

This reminds me a bit of the old Bill Hicks routine....

This is a really great idea, but are there no legal issues attached?

Well, many of our rants our submitted via our site (more every week as the show grows). The rest are taken from anonymous postings online, never anything where the author has identified themselves.

I'm not a lawyer, so I don't want to start trying to give advice about law here.
I'll drop you a PM if you want to talk about it.

I loves this man! "My life" was great. And so are the others. I really wish we had the chance to meet in TX. Well, I might go there back again soon. Who knows...

Hope You can make it to NAB!

LOL, loved it. I think my favorite is either "My Life" or "Automated Support Lines".

Can you give us any insight on the "webisode" process, any success you have seen with it, ways to make money off of it, etc? Also, What equipment did you use (production and post).

Keep it up! :}

Both of those answers were excellent. Thank you for that. I hope your success takes off and I think its a great webisode series. I will be keeping up with these.
