As some of you might know I normally make music videos but I wanted to start making short movies ever since I joined this forum. The time has finally arrived to take my first steps into narrative film making. There's nobody who's gonna teach me so just like some of you I'm gonna figure this out myself.
The plan is to do several short projects, each one focused on another aspect of film making. Project 1 is focused on filming, lighting and editing. So if you're hoping to watch a real story I'm gonna have to disappoint you. Upcoming projects will be focused on dialog, acting, writing, directing and all that stuff. This one is more like a crossover music video / mini movie ![]() LINK: Youtube | Vimeo |

Nicely Done, JuJu, ZuZu, Dance part would have been better with kinect
especially with the techno music.

Thanks for taking your time to watch
. Amazing what you can do these days with a DSLR and zero budget. I think my next project is going to be pure dialog. I've never recorded proper audio before so that will be a real challenge.

That was great Bryan! A lot better than some of the stuff I've seen others do with a Scarlet-X tbh.
Could you tell us a bit more about what you were working with? Which DSLR, lenses etc.? |

Thanks Ameer. Hope I didn't waste 3 minutes of your live.
I used the Canon 550D with a Canon 50mm f1.8 and a 28mm f2.8. About the cheapest camera + lenses around. Also used the Magic Lantern scopes for framing during shooting. I love shooting like that with the 28mm. Didn't do any grading. Only the shot when the Doctor walks in was slightly corrected. The aim was to shoot and light for the final look. I used 3 LED spots wich can be programmed to various colors. They cost around € 39. I always convert the mov files to cineform because this gives me better performance on my ancient PC and I edited with premiere. No plug-ins. |

Wow, I was expecting you to tell me you'd shot with a 5D Mark II at least, or a 1D MKIV, and the fact that you got away with those lenses is also incredible!
People like you are living proof that it's not about the tools, it's about who's hands they're in! Well done man. I'm really looking forward to your next project

Thanks for your kind words Ameer. I appreciate it
![]() I've learned a lot about filming and editing since Scarlet 1.0 was announced and I have a very long way to go when it comes to story telling. But I believe I'll get there eventually
