I think the dedolight cases are pure rip-offs. But after a few transports in several backpacks I feel it's time to get them a case. So I want buy a stormcase. If I order in the US I still end up with almost 1/3 less than with a dedocase after shipping and a wheelcase.
The iM2720 would be almost the same size as a dedocase for 4 lights (only have two but intend to get at least a third later). It's 7.6kg in empty state.
The problem is the iM2950 is a bit bigger. It is 9.43kg. So quite a bit heavier. But could load a bit more equipment. I'm unsure about the weight of a loaded case. I'm short and lanky after all. Appart from color decisions I balance between:

and

The later comes in sweet coyote tan. :)
Will the padded dividers protect my lights enough?

We use both Pelican and Storm cases. The foam padding might not be enough for heavy gear - but if You find that out later on, You can always make Your own custom filling... :D

Kata (http://www.google.com/products?q=kata+light+cases) also has some cool lighting cases.

Thanks, I tested the weight and therefore it's between these two:

vs.

The pelican is a bit heavier. But also better built?

I recommend the Pelican... :D
It is a personal choice and You won't go wrong with the Storm either...
Pick any of these two and You'll be fine...

Peter, where does the additional weight of the Pelican co from? Casing, wheels?
I guess I will take a stormcase because of weight. After all I'm not such a huge gringo. :happyhappy:

The wheels won't make that much difference. My bet is the plastic material (but denser and/or thicker) - but I am just guessing here... You will be fine with the Storm... :D

Now I have to clinch about colors.
Flashy yellow, classic british tea gray, Jannardesque green beret olive drab or scarletesque black.

I try to color-select our cases based on what type of equipment they contain. This makes for easy unload from the truck and trying to find a specific case. For example You can have all camera gear and accessories in black cases. Light with accessories in yellows. Power stuff in greens. Computers in grays... Ultimately it is up to You and Your preferences... :D
If a particular case color is not available - You can always use a color tape or spray-paint it to match...

Yeah I thought about buying it yellow because it would suit my dedos (their branding is yellow). Lighting = Yellow, would make much sense and I will certainly get a grey or black one for the scarlet.
Are the padded dividers the same with pelicans and stormcases?

I only have Storms with foam fill and only one Pelican with padded dividers, rest with foam - so I can't help You here. Sorry... :D

Peter, I can't recommend this life-fast-and-short-sleeping-behavior. :)
Bought a yellow iM2720 for 'em.

I appreciate Your concern Yannick... I do... But as Jim would confirm - sometimes You just don't have a choice - not if You are serious about achieving Your dreams... :D

Looks like I'm too late, but I'll add my vote here anyway for Storm; especially if you've ever been "bit" by the knuckle-buster latches on a Peli, you'll really appreciate the improvement Storm has made to latch design ...

Hi Erik
I have read some comments over on reduser, and decided to go with stormcases because of weight. This was a major factor for many and me also, as I'm not really Arnie junior. Great if the latches are better.

The stormcase i2720 is the perfect match for 3 dedolights with equipment or up to 4 dedolights without equipment. If anyone wants to see a picture, just shout. It's cheaper than the original dedolight hardcase also.

Enough place for my third later down the road. :)
Until than it can hold some of my electrical cables.
It's a bit heavy, but my dedos are safe now.

Are You sure it would not fit four?
Nice set thou...

No problem. It absolutely would fit four. I have some Daylight glass filters also. I'm not sure yet where and how to store them. They are so small that they probably even could go in the case with 4 lights. But I need to find a protective pocket for 'em.

In the lid... Just add custom padded pocket to it and cover all the HW in the main compartment with a foam protectors... :D

This one is Peli, but You can make it Yourself easily for Your storm... :D

That looks like a sweet case in that picture.
Is that actually a MBPro, or just a MB/iBook?

Personally I'm looking at SKB cases, for when I need to expand beyond what I have. These look particularly nice, for example:
http://www.skbspecialtycases.com/skb-industrial-military-cases.php?submenu=industrial_military
I have one of their Mini Gig Rigs (for audio gear -- mixer on top and rack below) and it's VERY well-made -- couldn't be more pleased and definitely worth any small price premium; I know these cases aren't specifically designed for camera gear, but with the cube foam I don't see why there would be any real disadvantage over any other cube foam case, and the SKB warranty is tough to beat. Waterproof is a nice bonus...

For lighting I wouldn't go militarycase again. It's to heavy to lug around.
