Just received a Century Precision Optics 3.5mm f1.8 ultra wide fisheye lens for 16mm in Arri standard mount. Looks to be in excellent condition.:happyhappy:

Nice,

Here's a trick... You can de-fish a fisheye in software to get an ultra-wide rectalinear view cheap. The problem is that the edges get a bit soft and the corners get very soft.

But by shooting at 16x9 or taller and delivering at 2.35:1, things aren't so bad. You can squeeze extra pixels vertically toward the center, and don't need to stretch your ends and corners quite so much. Considering that you are shooting 3k with at least 2.4k resolution for a 2k or 1080p delivery, those corners might not be so soft after all.

The approach is a bit squirrely, but isn't terribly far removed from shooting anamorphically.

I need to borrow my friend's Zenitar and try this out on my 5D2.

Hi David, I tried my Bolex lenses on a 4-3 Lumix GF1 via a C mount adapter, They all vignette to varying degrees except the Yvar 75mm and a Pizar 50mm which look great. The others are Switar 16-100, 10mm, a Pizar 25mm. Will these lenses also vignette on a Scarlet interchangeable? Thanks up front on any pointers. Chang

No, the 4/3 format has a 22mm image circle, 16mm is 12.7mm circle and 2/3" is 11mm circle. 2:1 crop on your lumix would give you a more accurate idea of what Scarlet will look like.

Thanks for that. Image circle size should have been my original question. Thats good news for my lenses! Thanks again folks.
