That's not even fun anymore...

I chose to go back to 30fps and interlaced.

RED is not fun.

What can this be news of? FPS? Timelapse?

Too Much, get this site pumping again, at the least.

Bet they are responding to our feedback... maybe a 3K s35 Scarlet for $4,000? :)

they don't call you Silver Screen Dreams for nothing! Can't be that as it is news across the Scarlet Epic range, DR, FPS something like that, maybe a drop in general production costs!

Aghhhh this is too much. The 3rd means forum going a million mph again haha.
Be interesting to see what they are. I'm guessing the sensors will still be the same. Maybe we'll get to see some more fixed lens stuff? I'm guessing mainly going to be aesthetic changes and maybe what we get bundled on the brain?

The Ikonoskop will be out before the Scarlet, ready to shoot with a lens, maybe they realised that they need to match that bundle for price.

Ha ha. Yeah, that makes sence I guess. More DR would be insane!!!

Dynamic range from cave black to direct sun?
Frame rates from DC to the speed of light?
Satellite spy camera resolution?

Think it will most likely be related to the sensors as that's what they've been playing around with.

I'm going to take a stab at this one. Jim, you said breakthrough so I'm guessing.....You figured out a way to give us 30fps!- Maybe I'm just dreaming.

I read somewhere that they had the sensors finished so I can only guess that either they've discovered something amazing that sensors can do or... ah.. I don't know. It's like one birthday, several times a year, where one expectations are boosted, and with every release Red just blows your mind, cause you would never imagine what they had in mind for you. It's pretty awesome. December 3rd is only... 8 days away. :)

Now I wouldn't mind a more detailed price list of the modular accessories. Give us a better idea of how much we're going to need to save up to get what we want in our modular Scarlet system for shooting and to juggle our options even if its going to change slightly down the road.

I think they're going to include a volume knob on Scarlet & Epic that goes to 11!

I don't want to sound pessimistic, but at this point the only BIG CHANGE I could imagine to warrant such a announcement would be the change to the delivery schedule. Jim, you had me at 2/3" 3K-res 120 FPS fixed lens - regardless of the price. Anything better is fine, but I would opt for sooner...

I really admire what You guys are doing, and I don't want to spoil the fun You must be having in Lake Forrest... Maybe just dedicate a small unit to get the basic Scarlet with the fixed lens out the door ASAP, while You guys keep ever improving the Battlestar Jannardica DSMC concept...

What ever You are cooking - it can't be out soon enough...

You know I am with You all the way - no matter what...

I agree. I bet Red wont do any changes that would push the delivery schedule further. Other manufactures are developing fast as well. If red will delay the delivery, some of us may jump onto another train. Big bomb would be that Scarlet would be out by NAB 2009.

Personally I can wait for years. I'm shooting my present animation with Canon 40D, and will begin the next film earliest at the end of 2010. So, as long as Scarlet is out within 2 years I'm happy.

Unlike the November 13th announcement - there is no "IN PROCESS OF CHANGE" on the EPIC, nor the SCARLET links on red.com. Go figure...

I wouldn't get hopes up on ridiculously cheap prices to match Canon Nikon still cameras.

For some reason there seems to be people here that think a "DSLR killer" means beating a DSLR only at stills. That is not the case. A "DSLR-killer" means offering an equal to stills quality while offering a superior motion capture capability at the same time... for a price.

Jim

Now that you have decided that we haven't (I believe you are in the minority on this one) why stay and complain? Just curious... I have butted heads with you quite a few times on other threads. Happy to have you here, but the productivity seems low. If we offered a 5D-like camera that shot motion like our EPIC at $2K, then you would be happy? RED can't do it and Canon can't do it. So it seems that if you really would be happy with the motion characteristics of a 5D the solution is pretty easy and solved for you already. I just wonder why you stay to complain about something that isn't going to happen. I don't mean to be disrespectful here. I can just see that REDs future is different than the one you have in mind.

My best,

Jim

Maybe they figured out how to remove all the add-ons to a utility belt, and fitted the lens to a pair of glasses with mind control AE, Shutter, & focus etc, So you really can film what you see.

Not really but if the modules where spread about my person and linked by some wireless magic, I would prefare not to put it all in one brick, but probably not really feasable at the moment.

That thing looks like a total mess, and uncomfortable. Whoever designed that must have no idea.

RED are a true inspiration. Its humbling. Whatever else they have figured out to include with Scarlet/Epic is pure bonus. I've gone way beyond the mentality of...well that is limiting I'll figure a way around that...there is no limits. I'm silent. I'm not speculating. There is no point. My Birthday is on the 6th so whatever it is will be an early birthday present from RED!
