So, I'm looking at the new scarlet... What is the equilivant in mm to the 8x on the fixed lens? I dont really like the options for the interchangable len mounts. I'm assuming we'll be unable to use cannon or nikon lenses because of the required sizes and all that stuff (please forgive me, I got like 2 hours of sleep because I was up waiting for Jim to stop messing with us). But I'm just trying to pick a camera and so far I'm kinda leaning toward the fixed lens...

Anyone??? Anything???

I don't think those details are out yet.
At least, I haven't seen them.

I'm making the assumption based upon the listed lens mounts...

The Scarlet interchangeable options will be able to use a RED Mount, PL Mount, Canon Mount, or Nikon Mount... So, yes you would be able to use canon or nikon glass... with the S35 and FF35 options.

The 2/3" interchangeable Scarlet will have Mini-RED Mount, B4 Mount, and C Mount options.

On the Fixed lens... I would almost be willing to bet that you can get a ready to film Scarlet for real close to 3,000 bucks.

Sorry I should have specified... I think I'm gonna go with a 3k version because the speed of the camera is kinda important to me... I'm not set on the lenes for the 3k scarlet and I'm wondering if the fixed lens is viable...

Sorry, Still half asleep...

I imagine that the lens will be around a 30mm (35mm equilivent) upto 240mm, they have stated that a wide and tele adapter will be avail, but things change.

This is just a guess, but I can't see it being far off 30mm, give or take, this range is kinda standard in the 28-32mm range.

A fix mounted 30- 240 or whatever would be rad...
The speed is a good question, but still, I really like the idea...

yeah... I would imagine a good guesstimate right now until more information comes out are the specs of the original scarlet lens.

Seems that the TBA price 2/3" fixed lens Scarlet will be something very comparable to the original 3grand scarlet in price and features....

Except with the added benefit of accruing accessories over time, and when you make some money off of it, buying a new brain :) Old Scarlet wouldn't have been able to do that. That's worth a small premium to me (actually a large one, but you get me).

I'm going to guess around 3200 for a working base Scarlet which includes the future proof brain upgrade option.

The question, Jason, is how much of the based fixed lens Scarlet is upgradable? You have the fixed lens, the brain, and whatever there is on the back. Is this all one chunk, or can these be separated from the brain as well?

I just hope that the fixed lens is electronic for stereo! :}

3200 wins the way to my heart...

I cant see spending $7,000 for a camera that can shoot pretty much 1 speed... IDK... because then I've got to spend money for lenses... and then this and that... you know how it goes... Give a mouse a cookie, he'll want a 9K Red EPIC...

And $25,000 is way too far outside of my budget...

I hope you're right.
That would actually make a strong case for getting two cameras instead of one S35 brain.

Can I just say, 3D 3k for like 6 grand +Plus the mount...

Maybe 3500....

Jared. I don't know. But, my thinking is that the scarlet brain is the body/sensor/lens...

There are still all of the accessories... evf/lcd, battery, recording module and any of the goodies that you decide to add to it that will still be usable on a new brain...

I'm just "speculating" though :)

Yeah, I'm with you. Kind of hard to have a fixed lens if you can take it off... :}

I might know some people:thumbsup:

Depending on the history, breed, proposed hair colour, breeding etc...might be able to push to a S35 even a FF35...

So dark and wrong on so many levels...:banned:

In the UK it would be 25 donations for a 3K brain or 100 donations for a S35 brain, over the course of a year (you can only go 50 times every six months)...you did ask!

Its either that or medical testing.
